The military briefing sounded like a tired script: one soldier dead, four wounded, and immediate retaliation with aircraft \u201cto suppress Cambodian attacks.\u201d Translation: crossfire, old grudges, and a leadership that prefers uniforms over dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Phnom Penh returned the volley with Olympic speed: accusing Thailand of firing first, of shelling centuries-old temples, of shooting anywhere and everywhere\u2014except where someone might answer back.
